Please be wary of any competitor claiming that orders are free from custom duties and import duties (VAT-free).
UK residents that order from any non-UK website will be liable for custom duties, except when you order from a Jersey company, in which case no custom duties apply.
Claims that orders from the Channel Isles, and specifically Jersey, are VAT-free are unfortunately misleading. We have checked with HM Customs and Excise and UK VAT must be paid for all orders totaling £18 or over; You will not have to pay import tax for orders under £18 . The Royal mail will pay this on your behalf but you will need to pay this in addition to paying the Royal mail a processing fee before they will release the goods to you. You can see this clarified at a responsible site such as Google Jersey but we believe Channel Island and Jersey based suppliers do not make this clear and can be misleading. If you do decide to buy from a non-UK supplier please check the total cost payable with them first so you can make an informed decision. Avoiding payment of VAT is actually illegal in UK.
